Tuesday April 30, 2019: 4 hours

Today, Netburn and I focused on our cutting boards. We went to the wood-shop around 10 in the morning, after we did some cardio at the gym. We spent the first part of our day processing the wood we would need for hour cutting boards. The processing of the wood took about 2 hours, and once that was done, we cut the wood to the dimensions of the cutting boards we are going to make. Our plan is to make our cutting boards 17 inches long and 10 inches wide. While we were cutting the wood, we made a mistake and cut some of the pieces to the wrong width. However, we improvised and made 4 different looking cutting boards, and we made the rest of the cutting boards from our original plan. After our sports, we went back to the wood-shop at 6:15 to finish gluing some of cutting boards we made earlier in the day. I think it was a very productive and tiring day.

1st Day Senior Project

Monday, April 29th --- 4 Hours I woke up at around 8:30 and freaked out because I thought I slept through my first class. It's hard getting used to the whole process of waking up at a different time, maybe eating at different times, working at different times, etc. But, I managed to do everything I wanted to do today. David Netburn and I drove to Goosebay Sawmill & Lumber. When we walked into the store the first thing we saw was at least a hundred different rows of wood. I was excited because it was my first time buying wood for something that I would end up building. We bought around 215 dollars of wood, but the cashier gave us 15 dollars off because we were with Proctor. After we got back to campus, David and I went over our plan for the rest of the week and decided what prices we would sell our cutting boards for. Tuesday May 7th, 2019: 7 hours

Tuesday May 7th, 2019 Today was a tiring day, there is no other way to describe it. Netburn and I woke up and what to the shop at around 9:15. We spent the whole day working on the jewelry boxes. I did not expect these jewelry boxes to take up so much time and be so tedious work. We have to sand a lot of wood and the measurements need to be perfect in order for the box to fit together well. I messed up the measurements about 3 different times on the same piece of wood because I was so tired I couldn't think straight. I spent the whole day trying to put the drawers together while Netburn spent the whole day sanding the little pieces of the box by hand. We even went to extra help to try and finish before the next day but we really underestimated the time it would take to complete these boxes.

Weekly Reflection 1

Week 1 This week was not really what I expected it was going to be. I didn’t expect to buy our own wood at all, which actually makes the experience so much better. That was my first learning experience from the week. I learned that you pay for the word per foot, and that there are a lot more species of wood than I originally thought. I’ve been having a pretty good time working in the woodshop so far. I like it because I can listen to music and make cool things out of wood for as long as I want. I also like it because I get to hang out with my best friend David Netburn all day long. However, there have been some moments where I felt a little stressed because the plan changed and we started to improvise. But now, I feel good about our improvisations in response to the sudden change in plans. I feel good because we made some pretty cool looking cutting boards.
