Friday May 10th, 2019: 5 hours

Today, we got to the woodshed at around 9 in the morning. The first thing we did was put the first couple coats of mineral oil onto the cutting boards to make them look nice and ready to sell. We finished them at around 10, right as Greg and the rest of the school went to assembly. We spent the time going over the email we drafted up the day before and sent it out at around 10:30 or maybe a little earlier. After I sent the email. I wasn't expecting to get a response for a while. So, when I pulled my phone out and there were at least 10 emails, I was shocked. I didn't know what to do because I was not prepared for the abundant amount of responses. We sold out in no more than 4 minutes. I didn't know if we gave those people really good deals or if it was because we sent that email out right before mothers day. We started making cutting boards for people who didn't get one. A lot of people seemed to want the cutting board with the juice grooves, so we started making more of those in the afternoon. Overall, I did not expect the day to go so well, and it is a real moral booster.

1st Day Senior Project

Monday, April 29th --- 4 Hours I woke up at around 8:30 and freaked out because I thought I slept through my first class. It's hard getting used to the whole process of waking up at a different time, maybe eating at different times, working at different times, etc. But, I managed to do everything I wanted to do today. David Netburn and I drove to Goosebay Sawmill & Lumber. When we walked into the store the first thing we saw was at least a hundred different rows of wood. I was excited because it was my first time buying wood for something that I would end up building. We bought around 215 dollars of wood, but the cashier gave us 15 dollars off because we were with Proctor. Tuesday May 7th, 2019: 7 hours

Tuesday May 7th, 2019 Today was a tiring day, there is no other way to describe it. Netburn and I woke up and what to the shop at around 9:15. We spent the whole day working on the jewelry boxes. I did not expect these jewelry boxes to take up so much time and be so tedious work. We have to sand a lot of wood and the measurements need to be perfect in order for the box to fit together well. I messed up the measurements about 3 different times on the same piece of wood because I was so tired I couldn't think straight. I spent the whole day trying to put the drawers together while Netburn spent the whole day sanding the little pieces of the box by hand. We even went to extra help to try and finish before the next day but we really underestimated the time it would take to complete these boxes.

Weekly Reflection 1

Week 1 This week was not really what I expected it was going to be. I didn’t expect to buy our own wood at all, which actually makes the experience so much better. That was my first learning experience from the week. I learned that you pay for the word per foot, and that there are a lot more species of wood than I originally thought. I’ve been having a pretty good time working in the woodshop so far. I like it because I can listen to music and make cool things out of wood for as long as I want. I also like it because I get to hang out with my best friend David Netburn all day long. However, there have been some moments where I felt a little stressed because the plan changed and we started to improvise. But now, I feel good about our improvisations in response to the sudden change in plans. I feel good because we made some pretty cool looking cutting boards.
